۱. Under the weather:

Meaning: slightly ill, to feel ill

ناخوش احوال

Example: you look a bit under the weather.

۲. The ball is in your court:

Meaning: it’s up to you, it’s your turn to take action or to reply

نوبت شماست که اقدام کنی

Example: I’ve emailed him – now the ball’s in his court.

۳. Spill the beans:

Meaning: to give away a secret, to tell something that someone else wanted you to keep a secret

۴. Break a leg: good luck

Meaning: to wish someone luck especially just before they perform on stage

۵. Pull someone’s leg:

Meaning: to play a practical joke or to tell someone something that is not true, as a joke:

سر به سر کسی گذاشتن، کسی را دست انداختن

Meaning: to be undecided, unsure

مردد ماندن، تردید داشتن

Example: You can’t sit in the fence and think for a long time.

Meaning: to be loyal no matter what, in spite of any difficulties or problems:

Meaning: rarely

۱۰. Take it with a pinch/grain of salt:

Meaning: don’t take it seriously or

با شک و تردید به چیزی نگاه کردن

Example: Most of what he says should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Meaning: no matter what or whatever happens or whatever the weather is like

Meaning: to fail spectacularly

Meaning: to agree completely or used to say that you completely agree with someone

Meaning: to follow a trend

Example: If people jump on the bandwagon, they get involved in something that has recently become very popular.

Meaning: perfect or healthy and well

سالم و سرحال

Example: You just need to take a bath and then you’ll be as right as rain again.

Meaning: avoid saying something

Example: Don’t beat around the bush. Ask for your account to be paid, and paid quickly.

Meaning: go to bed
